Project “With Puppets into the World of Recycling and Global Learning”, 2016

“With Puppets into the World of Recycling and Global Learning” was a one-year project, created and coordinated in cooperation with the Association Humanitas and with the support of the Municipality of Ljubljana. We continued the work begun with the puppet group “Svetovne lutke” (The Puppets of the World), which was formed in 2013/2014 and included people from different vulnerable groups in order to increase employability in the field of culture. The project activities were built around the puppet show “Rešilni čoln” (The Lifeboat), which was upgraded

with creative workshops for children. In accordance with the overall theme of Ljubljana as the European Green Capital 2016 children from three primary schools made recycled puppets and animated them, along with producing short comics. They learned about the global environmental challenges, reflected on the green role of their city and also gained some insight into the intercultural aspects by creating dragon puppets from different cultures (eg. a Ljubljana dragon and a Chinese dragon). We reached between 250-300 children in the activities in a total of 21 meetings.
